Since July 2008 all European airports have a legal obligation under EU Regulations to offer an assistance service for disabled travellers and passengers with reduced mobility.
Sin Barreras (Without Barriers), is a term used to describe passenger assistance at Spanish Airports including Tenerife South Airport, for Passengers with Reduced Mobility (PRM), or with disabilities.
The Sin Barreras service at Tenerife South Airport and other Spanish airports is without charge for passengers with reduced mobility and is operated by Aeana, the Spanish airport company.
The Sin Barreras service should hopefully make any passenger’s journey and members of their party a more enjoyable one and ensure that your travel arrangements go smoothly.
To use the Sin Barreras service, passengers must request this assistance beforehand.
This will ensure when you arrive at Tenerife South Airport everything is in place for your arrival.
Aena recommend that whenever possible you make your booking seven days before your arrival date. This way you will ensure that the assistance you require will be available. However, if this is not possible, then a minimum of 48 hours notice will ensure they are prepared for your arrival.
When you contact them with your request for assistance, you will need to indicate your specific needs to ensure that everything is prepared for you.
You will also need to inform your airline of your special requirements.
The Spanish airport company Aena has a helpline number available 24 hours a day.
