Your luggage not arriving at your destination is every traveller’s fear.
To try to minimise this happening by checking your bags in early and don’t leave it until the last minute to check them in. Late check in at the bag drop desk can be one of the reasons for your baggage getting lost.
Make sure your baggage is clearly labelled and the bags are lying flat on the belt and so can’t fall off.
Despite all your efforts to ensure your baggage doesn’t get lost, sometimes due to sheer volume of flights and mislabeling of bags or labels becoming detached, bags do get lost.
If your luggage does not arrive you need to immediately contact your airline’s luggage handling agent before leaving the airport.
The handling agent will ask you to complete a Property Irregularity Report (PIR). Make sure before you leave the airport that you get a copy of this Report and the handling agent’s contact details.
The agent can track your luggage via the bar code. Via the bar code the agent will be able to let you know what has happened to your luggage, where it is and make appropriate arrangements to deliver it to you.
Below are the contact details for the luggage handling counters at Tenerife South Airport.

In the unfortunate event that your luggage is lost or arrives damaged you can make a claim from either your travel insurer or the airline. You need to ensure that you report any lost luggage at your airline’s lost luggage office before you leave the airport and fill in a claim form.
Normally any luggage will be sent to you within 24-48 hours.
Any baggage which hasn’t been delivered within 21 days is officially classed as “lost”. You may then make a claim against your airline or from your travel insurer.
If you mislay any of your luggage whilst inside the passenger terminal contact the airport’s Information Service.
There are two information desks at TFS opposite the arrivals and departures lounges for any enquiries regarding lost property.
